I am a Brussel-based, Italian-born contemporary accordion player, sound practitioner, producer, and researcher with interest in participatory art methodologies, working at the intersections of art, social engagement, and climate justice.
I am going through a process of deconstruction and unlearning of the musical world and practice I grew inside, questioning its verticality, self-referentiality, narcissism, and power structures: I acknowledge cultural variations through radical active listening, and my instrument serves to promote inclusivity and embrace communities and sites. I see performance as only one of the steps to encourage mutual understanding.
I love to expand the possibilities of my accordion through collaborative processes with composers and artists, and I create sound art that make connections and listening possibilities explicit through field recording, accordion, pedalboards, programming, electronics and synths.
I regularly perform in duo with Raiz(e), Promenade Sauvage, a few minutes to silence, Sadie Fields, and I collaborates with Ictus Ensemble.
I am a researcher at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, and I teach Music Technology at the Conservatory of Bruxelles. I also received a Bachelor’s degree in Italian Literature and I am a sound engineer leading BlowOutStudio.
My stakes on this path are concerts (Konzerthaus Wien, Harvard University, Berklee College of Music, Bayreuther Festspiele, Tokyo Opera City Hall, Mozarteum, Théâtre National de Strasbourg, Bozar, Teatro La Fenice), discs, lectures and the project “accordion4composers”.
